Steel Object Smashes through SUV Windshield on Florida Turnpike
A motor vehicle accident recently injured yet another motorist traveling on the treacherous Florida Turnpike. A 56-year-old man was driving south on the highway through Broward County when a steel wheel crashed through the windshield of his SUV.
The objected caused cuts to the driver's arms and eyes. He later received treatment at a Fort Lauderdale hospital soon after the accident.
Florida Highway Patrol is unable to confirm where the steel wheel came from, but speculates the object flew out of a larger vehicle, trailer or garbage truck.
Florida's Turnpike is a 312 mile long toll road running north and south through 11 counties including Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.
