Florida child killed hit and killed while crossing the street

When a person dies, it is a serious tragedy that leaves many people to cope with their grief. When that person dies suddenly and unexpectedly, coping may be even more difficult. Coming to terms with the wrongful death of a loved one, especially if it is a child, is never easy. In this recent Florida case, a young boy lost his life when he was hit by a car.

A 6-year-old boy from Putnam County was playing with friends near his house Friday night when he attempted to cross the street. As he did so, an oncoming car struck the boy, and he died at the scene. Florida Highway Patrol reported that the 36-year-old woman driving the car tried to swerve out of the way but could not.

Family members who were supervising the children say they weren’t sure why the boy went into the road. Several of them, including his mother, witnessed the collision.

Family members congregated at the site of the accident Saturday afternoon to offer support and remember the child. Some relatives say that despite the tragic loss, they believe he is in a better place now. A few years ago, the same family lost a relative on that road, also to a car accident.

Authorities are still investigating the accident, and charges are pending.

Situations like this can be confusing and overwhelming for family members and relatives. They may wonder how something so terrible could happen out of nowhere, and they may think someone should be held responsible. Experienced Florida attorneys understand how difficult a wrongful death is for those involved and know that strong cases can be built to help a family obtain compensation for its loss.
