Motorcyclist Killed in Tragic Accident on Boynton Beach Roadway

A motorcyclist died after crashing into a minivan on a road in Boynton Beach, Florida. The tragic auto accident occurred around 9:45 a.m., with witnesses telling Boynton Beach police that the driver of the minivan may have caused the fatal crash by pulling out in front of the motorcyclist at the last second.

The motor vehicle collision happened on the 100 block of East Gateway Boulevard in Boynton Beach. The motorcyclist was riding a 1999 Yamaha V-Star bike and traveling east on the roadway just prior to the fatal accident. As the biker moved down the road, a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan reportedly merged into traffic at the crossroad with Northeast First Court. The motorcyclist then slammed into the back of the minivan on the driver’s side, according to official police reports.

It was immediately apparent to those who witnessed the collision that the biker had sustained serious injuries. Police officers and paramedics quickly arrived on the scene and subsequently rushed the injured motorcyclist to nearby Delray Medical Center. Tragically, doctors at the hospital were unable to save the victim’s life; he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the medical facility.

The motorcyclist who was tragically killed in the car accident was David Bookman, a 51-year-old resident of Boynton Beach, FL. The driver of the minivan that was involved in the accident is a 79-year-old man.

The Boynton Beach Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit is currently investigating the car accident. Depending on the findings of investigators and the precise circumstances of the crash, it is possible that Bookman’s family could be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the 79-year-old driver of the minivan. One potential factor in any personal injury claim related to the fatal motorcycle accident could be a report that Bookman was not wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash.
